We will be organizing Beginners’ course & Intermediate/Performance classes in Feb2009! And most importantly, for convenience, it will be held in school!
What is Lindy Hop…?
Lindy Hop is the original swing dance, popularized by the Harlam Ballroom in NY from the 1920s to 1940s. It is primarily a partner dance but coupled also with solo jazz steps, and is characterized by its youthful, energetic and yet smooth flavor.

1) Beginners’ Course:
This series of 8 sessions will cover all the basics of Lindy Hop, both partner dancing and solo steps. Other than the basic Jockey and Charleston footwork, this course will also cover several variations, turns and spins, and basic lead-and-follow techniques.
No dance experience required! Everyone welcome to join in the fun!
2) Intermediate / Performance Course:
This course also consists of 8 sessions. The main focus will be on styling and also the introduction of intermediate steps based on a routine. We will work on teaching you how to create a unique style of your own by focusing and improving on your “frame”. It will help you greatly in your social dancing!
Basic Lindy Hop experience is required.
For both courses:
- Attire: Casual clothing (anything that you feel comfortable in) and comfortable shoes
- For ladies: no heels please!

ALL Course Starts 2nd Feb 2009 to 6th April 2009, Every Monday (no lessons on 23rd Feb and 2nd March during study break and test week)
Time:
Beginners class: 7pm to 8pm
Intermediate class: 8pm to 9pm

$60 per person (applicable for all current NUS undergrads and all NUS graduates)
